Below are some of the common questions we receive. If there’s a question you have that isn’t addressed below, please contact us – we’d be happy to answer all of your questions.

How old should my child be to start?

We will take children as young as 5 years-old. However, most children do better and get more out of class if they are around 6 to 9 years of age – but it all depends on the individual child. Our first two classes are always free, so you are welcome to bring your child and see how well they handle the class and instruction.

My child has trouble paying attention, or has a special medical concern, is that a problem?

No problem, we work with each person to their level of ability. Karate training improves balance, coordination, focus and self control.

When is your next sign up period?

New students are welcome to start at any time. To try a first free class, contact us all Sensei Jan (937) 207-0656 and she will meet you before class starts to get you started with some basics. Wear comfortable shorts and a t-shirt.

Do you have to be a member of the YMCA to join?

No. We are fortunate to enjoy the YMCA’s facilities for instruction, but you do not need to be a member to be a student of our program and join in the fun. We provide discounted pricing options for both YMCA and non-YMCA members.

Do you teach adults too?

Absolutely! We teach all ages and karate is a fun way to stay in shape both physically and mentally. There’s nothing like punching your stress away after a busy work day!!
